"In the course of a night watching a play in the theatre, you can have a new thought, a new sensitivity to something. And if you change people, you’ll end up changing the society."

–Athol Fugard

Ensemble Description

ProvPlayers 2012-2013

ProvPlayers is a touring ensemble of theatre students who develop and share their talent for artistic expression through classic and contemporary one-act plays. These plays are chosen specifically for their meaningful content and to facilitate thought-provoking discussion. Sometimes funny, sometimes serious, they are always entertaining and present a powerful message.

They are a well-rehearsed ensemble, perfect for high school performances and workshops. Their dedication to excellence in rehearsal and performance results in an experience for their audience that will not soon be forgotten.  For a blog review of one their 2010-2011 plays click here.

This team can provide a complete program that can be modified to suit your needs. For example, the team can perform one or two plays as part of a larger service or event, or the team could perform their full repertoire, providing thought-provoking entertainment for an entire event. The team is available for booking on evenings or weekends from November to early March.

ProvPlayers exists primarily to educate high school students about theatre. During the reading week tour, ProvPlayers provides theatre performances and workshops to local high schools.

Their program usually includes the following components that can be used to suit your event:

  • Powerful drama in the form of one-act plays
  • Interactive talk-back sessions after the performance with the actors and director, which provide interesting facts about the ensemble and rehearsal process, as well as discussion about the themes and meanings of the performance.
