Technology in Churches?
Christian Leaders Day with Haddon Robinson
The new Apple iPhone is just the latest in a long line of new forms of technology that are changing the way we communicate. As more and and more people text, email, or Skype their way through each day, the way we communicate is changing and its impact can even be felt in today's churches.
We may even be on the verge of losing a form of time-honored traditional worship: the sermon. And that is the issue Dr. Haddon Robinson hopes to address at Christian Leaders Day at Providence Seminary on June 21, “How can preaching retain its relevance?”
As the keynote speaker, Dr. Robinson will be exploring the relevance and value of expository preaching in the post-modern world with sessions on, “Speaking as Listeners Like It,” “Tell them the Old Old Story,” and “Imagination: A Neglected Tool for Biblical Preaching.”
Other featured workshops will target different tracks, like pastors, youth leaders, and pastors of outreach ministries.
The two-day conference starts with a free evening worship service on Sunday, June 20 beginning at 7:30 PM. The evening will include music and a challenging message from Dr. Robinson. The service will be followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship in the Reimer Student Life Centre.
There is still time to register for Christian Leaders Day, “Preaching that Crosses the Divide"; the registration deadline is June 11. To request a registration form, email Gayle Penner at email@example.com. Or visit the events calendar at providenceseminary.ca for more information.
