Providence bustling during summer months
2017-07-17

Although Providence held its graduation exercises back in April, the Otterburne, Manitoba campus has been a hive of activity through the spring and summer months.

By the time Scribe and The Color kick off the 2017-18 academic year with a free Welcome Week concert on September 3, nearly 600 people will have studied or camped at Providence since the beginning of May. Hundreds more will have used the institution’s facilities for private functions.

Beginning with Dr. Hendrik van der Breggen’s course, “Special Studies in Philosophy of Religion: William Lane Craig’s Campus Apologtics,” and continuing with offerings in Biblical and Theological Studies, Christian Ministries and Counselling Psychology, the robust spring and summer programming at Providence has brought together students of all ages, from near and far.

At present, 24 students have just passed the midway point of the intensive, six-week Summer TESOL program, and the start of Sports Camps has brought the first group of summer campers to Providence. More than 380 of them will have honed their skills in basketball, soccer or volleyball by the time they go back to school in the fall.

The Providence mission of teaching people to grow in knowledge and character for leadership and service is every bit a 12-month enterprise.
