Current and aspiring business leaders turn out for NexGen event
2017-03-30

Regional business leaders, entrepreneurs and aspiring businesspeople filled the lecture theatre at the Providence-based Buller School of Business, Wednesday, to participate in the inaugural NexGen Panel Discussion.

Element Realty founder and owner Monica Kessler, Polar Industries president Mark Kohaykewych and Rotessa founder and partner Greg Lepp fielded questions from the audience, which also included Buller School students.

Cody Turnbull, who will shortly complete a double major in Business and Biblical Studies at Providence, moderated the discussion in the recently-completed facility, which accommodated the evening’s 60 guests.

“The first ever NexGen event was a great success,” says Cody Quiring, Development Officer at Providence. “The all-star group of panelists shared experiences and wisdom on key issues of the intersection of business and faith that not only students come across, but that are also topics and ideas that alumni and local business professionals wrestle with on a daily basis.”

Attendees wanted to know how Kessler, Kohaykewych and Lepp began their businesses, what they wish they’d known when they founded their companies and how their faith and values continue to speak into the decisions they make.

The event was facilitated by the Buller School of Business and the IMPACT 2020 campaign—the largest fundraising drive in Providence history. The Buller School, as well as the lecture theatre and interactive, boardroom-style classrooms that house it, was launched in September as part of the $12.5 million initiative.

“The host facility at the Buller School of Business was the perfect location to showcase to the local community the facilities that are used to educate the up-and-coming difference-makers of our world,” says Quiring. “We look forward to hosting uniquely formatted NexGen Business Leaders events in the future here at Providence for the benefit of students, alumni and the broader community.”
