Providence included in Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative
For the first time Providence has been included in the Manitoba’s Scholarship and Bursary Initiative for 2017-18.
For every $2 the institution privately raises the provincial government will contribute $1, to a maximum of $25,000. The commitment further underlines the contribution of Providence to post-secondary education in Manitoba, says President Dr. David Johnson.
“It is encouraging that the provincial government has continued to recognize the important role Providence and other faith-based educational institutions play in the grand scheme of post-secondary education,” he says. “This grant will allow more students to experience the small class sizes, personal faculty mentorship and campus experience that are the hallmarks of a Providence education.”
Providence has long valued student aid initiatives such as scholarships and bursaries and has allocated $1 million to endow scholarships through IMPACT 2020, the largest fundraising campaign in Providence history.
Students are being further served through the Providence Fund, to which $6 million has been apportioned through IMPACT 2020. The Providence fund currently supplies approximately $325,000 annually to scholarships.
Altogether, Providence will provide $500,000 in scholarships and bursaries in 2017-18.
