Romeo KC claims back-to-back MCAC basketball MVP awards
Providence Pilots men’s basketball star Romeo KC has been named Most Valuable Player of the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference for a second season on the bounce.
KC, a fourth-year guard from Falls Church, Virginia, led the province in scoring with 21.8 points per game in 2016-17 and also topped the assists chart with an average of 6.08. Additionally, his field goal percentage was third-best in the division.
Teammate Richard Rodgers, too, was recognized by the MCAC as a member of the All Conference team. The Adelaide, Australia guard, in his third year at Providence, topped the defensive rebounds category with 7.82 per game and also finished fourth in scoring.
On the women’s side third-year forward Courtney Engel, from LaSalle, was named to the All Conference team after averaging 10.5 points per game—good for fourth in the MCAC—and coming third in overall rebounds with 8.17.
Both Providence basketball teams advanced to the MCAC Final Four but came up short last weekend, losing to the eventual champions—Canadian Mennonite University and Red River College, respectively.
