This year we have  47 students who have one or more parents that attended school at Providence College & Seminary.  It was fun to reconnect with some of them as they were here for the Parent Orientation on Sept. 6th.  It is encouraging for us to see second and third generation alumni /students.  See the list below:

10 Year Reunion 2010

1998-2000 College Alumni

72 Adults plus 31 children equals a lively, fun time together. From the moment alumni started to arrive in the new, air conditioned, Reimer Student Life Center there was visiting and reconnecting happening. It was hard to get people to go for lunch till their kids dragged them in. The 10 Year Reunion was a short, quality time together that started Saturday, July 17 at lunch and ended Sunday at lunch. Besides the visiting, the highlights were: Dylan Barlow leading worship; Dennis Hiebert sharing about faith journeys; hearing some Alafalonga songs sung by Henry Dueck, James Frances and Curtis Brandt; pictures from the past, Henry Schellenberg leading reunion choir members in two songs; Blair Lane from NewFoundland singing some songs from his newly released CD: hearing some of Ryan and Jeralyn(Meisner) Millers journey and ending our time with sharing and praying for each other. It was a great time together because of the alumni that came and were willing to share their gifts to make this reunion happen.

1968 Ladies Trio Reunion 2010

Beryl Gartly ('68),  Georgia Harrison ('69) and Marilyn Lambert (‘71) met together at Mary Haakenson's ('68) home in Bismarck, North Dakota in early July ’10. Our friendship began on Spring tour 1968 (picture taken in Saskatoon) for Winnipeg Bible College. Ministry opportunities over the years (Mary in Niger, Africa and then Chicago, Illinois; Marilyn in Ontario churches with husband Richard; Georgia in various churches in the States and in Alberta with her husband; Beryl, with Ron in Manitoba and Alberta churches) meant just periodic contacts over the past decades. Life journeys took each of us through different experiences and events, some joyful, others sorrowful. The reunion at Providence College in July 2008 gave us the occasion for joining in song again with opportunities to sing at the worship services. But that one time was not enough! In July 2009, three of us met at Beryl’s (Taber, Alberta) to sing and share our lives. This year, all four us met to sing, pray, cry and laugh together for the three days in Bismarck. (Picture from this year) We now have plans to meet at Marilyn’s next year in Ontario! The four of us are so grateful for this special gift of friendship that we share.

Providence 25 Year Reunion

July 10-12, 2009   This was a weekend of firsts! It was the first to use the new Reimer Student Life Center for a reunion and the first time to plan my own reunion. We invited alumni that attended Providence College during 1981-1984 to come back to Otterburne to celebrate their 25 Year Reunion.

The second weekend in July is the Providence Reunion Weekend. We do a cycle of 10, 25 and 40 year reunions. Friday night was a night of figuring out who is who and catching up with each other. There was no problem connecting and visiting right from the beginning. We had over 60 people attend this weekend. Saturday morning it was good to have Walter Martens & Cal Dirks lead us in worship. Dennis Hiebert spoke to us on Faith-Full Change and challenged us and helped us to understand our own faith journey more. It was good to hear feedback from each other as we had lunch together. The hardest part of the weekend was to get the group to move anywhere because there was so much visiting going on.

On Saturday night we heard music from the past by, Gord & Deb Poley, Terry Janke, Walter Martens, and Jill Jeffrey. along with stories shared. Cindy (MacClure)Dearborn emceed this time together.    Sunday morning we were privileged to hear Judy Ford share about how God has enabled her to really live in the midst of becoming paralyzed from the waist down and how her wheel chair has been a blessing.   Terry & Pat Janke led the morning and had us end the reunion in small groups praying for each other. What a powerful way to close an incredible weekend together.  God is faithful.
