Dr. David Johnson, Interim President

Attending university changed my life. My settled notions of what life was all about were challenged and transformed. I read about and evaluated ideas that were different than my own. I had opportunities to develop my leadership skills. I learned from great professors and met people I still count as friends thirty-five years later. University education is a life-changing experience.

At Providence University College you will attend classes with people from all over the globe. Nearly fifteen percent of Providence students have a passport from a country other than Canada. These Christians bring a rich variety of experiences and Christian beliefs to our classrooms, the dining hall, and residences. You can get an international experience right on campus.

At Providence University College you will study with well-educated, smart, and influential professors. Nicholas Greco spent a good part of his summer attending conferences where he delivered papers in the areas of communications, media, and popular culture. Cameron McKenzie and Michael Gilmour attended a conference in Europe where each gave a presentation. Kara Mandryk did clinical work toward ordination. These are just samples of how your professors witness to the transforming power of the gospel. These are the same professors who deliver delectable lectures using modern technological teaching aids. These are the same professors who meet with students in their offices to discuss course work, help students choose next semester’s courses, pray together, or just have a chat. Our professors care about their Christian influence, and they care about you.

At Providence University College you will have many opportunities to develop your leadership skills. Whether it is in the choir, with a worship team, on the theatrical stage, in the athletic arena, or as Residence Assistant or a member of the Student Council, most of your classmates are developing as leaders. You can too. Leadership is a skill and an art that can be developed with practice. There are lots of opportunities to learn the fine art of getting things done as a team.

At Providence University College you will develop friendships that last a lifetime. Our highly acclaimed Reimer Student Life Centre is the heart of campus social life. You will enjoy the fine meals served up by Wing Yau and the Sodexo staff. You will relax in the student lounge watching the Jets on large screen TV, playing a game of pool, or just relaxing with friends on the comfortable couches. Residence life includes small group Bible study and prayer, as well as support in the daily grind of life.

A Christ-centred university education will transform your life. When you will leave Providence you will join hundreds of alumni who are transforming your world.

David H. Johnson
Interim President and Professor of New Testament
