An Evangelical Academic Community

The Mission of Providence

A Christian academic community in the evangelical tradition, Providence teaches people to grow in knowledge and character for leadership and service.

Commentary on the mission of Providence

Providence offers Christ-centred undergraduate and graduate education through three different institutions: Providence University College, Providence Theological Seminary and Mile Two Discipleship School.

With 300 undergraduate students, 175 graduate students, and 27 regular faculty members, Providence is the largest self-standing Christian educational institution in Manitoba. As an interdenominational institution, Providence is governed by a Board of Governors, elected from a Corporation that represents the supporters of the institution.  All three Providence institutions stimulate over $17 million annually in economic activity in Manitoba.

Steeped in tradition, the name ‘Providence’ speaks of God's provision for the institution over its 90 years of providing the best in Christian education.

Providence University College educates people at a university level to think, live and serve as Christians in society and the church. The University College is committed to exploring faith and life through accredited undergraduate degree programs in Biblical Studies, Arts & Sciences and Professional Studies. Providence University College is chartered by the Province of Manitoba to offer degrees that serve as pre-requisites to post-baccalaureate degree programs at the University of Manitoba and other universities around the world.

Providence Theological Seminary is an evangelical institution whose purpose is to serve the Church, in the accomplishment of its mission, by preparing and supporting leaders, developing resources, and facilitating theological reflection. The Seminary is both evangelical and interdenominational offering certificates, masters and doctoral level programs in traditional classroom format, courses, and through online education. Graduate programs focus on preparing students for Church, counselling, educational, global and academic ministries.

Mile Two Discipleship School leads students to become more committed disciples of Jesus Christ, equipping and training them to make more disciples. Mile Two believes that intentional discipleship in a  committed community is the most effective way to follow Jesus and to lead others to do the same. Mile Two seeks to develop disciples of Jesus who are compassionate, self-sacrificing and absolutely committed to pursuing Jesus in every area of life.
