Pilots teams competing in Brandon and Minneapolis this weekend
The Providence Pilots women’s volleyball team has already departed for Minneapolis and will play five matches—three of them against National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) division rivals—over the coming weekend.
First up will be a Thursday night encounter with tournament hosts North Central University, who have so far endured a wobbly start to the season. The ladies will also face Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, Iowa) and Trinity Bible College (Ellendale, North Dakota) in regional action, and Dubuque, Iowa’s Emmaus Bible College and Minneapolis-St. Paul’s Crown College of NCAA Division 3 will provide more varied opposition.
The Pilots triumphed over Faith in five sets last Friday.
Meanwhile, the men’s and women’s soccer teams will be in Brandon on Saturday for showdowns with the Assiniboine Community College Cougars.
Winless in their first three matches the men’s side will be looking to get their Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) campaign off to a good start with their 2:00 p.m. match against a Cougars team that won just a single game in 2014. The Pilots ladies, having already posted a 1-0 win over Faith Baptist Bible College, will be hoping to establish a modest run of victories in Brandon.
