12 in a Row

Providence women’s volleyball team has been on a roll lately winning 12 sets in a row sweeping USB, CMU, U of W and this past weekend Red River. It was a dominant effort by the home team as they won 25-21, 25-19, and 26-24. Ever since the team has returned from Lincoln Illinois, the host of the NCCAA national women’s volleyball tournament, the team has been on fire. Players such as Lauren Toews, Christa Penner and Katelyn Corbin have been playing very well for the team and were key players for the Pilots in the win against Red River. The addition of Kate Osadchuk to the lineup for the Pilots has been instrumental to their success as of late. The Pilots will look for a few more wins as they travel to Red River this Thursday. A live video stream of the game can be found on the Red River website. This Saturday the team will play host to the Assiniboine Community College in a double header to wrap up the semesters games.

The men’s volleyball team has had their ups and downs this season as they have searched for their identity in the MCAC. Starting the season 3-1 with only a tight loss to the Blazers, the team looked like another powerhouse in the league. The Pilots latest game was against the Red River Rebels this past Friday night. The men showed promise in the 3rd set taking it 25-22 looking to build a comeback but continued to struggle to find their rhythm losing 3-1. This young athletic team has struggled as of late with 3 consecutive losses behind them. The Pilots have the talent to turn things around at any time and with 3 games left in the semester they will look to make a stand before the Christmas break. The Pilots play at Red River in a rematch from last Friday night. The next action takes place this Saturday as the Pilots play host in a double header with ACC.
