Strong Showing in Minneapolis


The women’s volleyball team from Providence journeyed down to North Central University in Minneapolis to play in a regional tournament. First game of the tournament was against the host team. Providence came out with a strong showing beating NCU 25-12, 25-13, 25-12. Heidi Martens 8 kills and 2 blocks and Lauren Toews pitched in 4 kills and 3 service aces. Next up was a match against Faith Baptist Bible College. This was a more competitive match Providence who took the match in 4 sets 25-19, 25-10, 21-25, 25-16. Lauren Toews had another great game with 15 kills and 3 blocks while Atira Clunis collected 9 kills and 3 service aces.
Providence played the host team again in the third match of the tournament. The result was much the same as the first match with Providence winning 25-19, 25-18, 25-16. Chelsea Needham led the way with 7 kills and 2 blocks while libero Katelyn Corbin had 7 digs.
The final game saw Providence beat Trinity Bible College 25-12, 25-19, 25-23. Lauren Toews was the offensive spark once again with 11 kills and 2 aces while Heidi Martens had 9 kills of her own.
