Heppner Signs With Women's Soccer
Providence is proud to announce the signing of Jessalyn Heppner. Earlier this summer after much patience, coach Calla was able to sign Jessalyn Heppner. Instead of jumping from high school right into college soccer, Jessalyn took a year to enter the discipleship training school called Cross Current at Winkler Bible Camp. Now after completing a year there she is ready to attend Providence University College and join the women’s soccer team.
A player like Jessalyn is valuable to a team in so many more ways then just her ability with a soccer ball. Jessalyn in a strong leader and a mature player who has great potential to add to our roster. It is much easier to teach technique to a player then wisdom. Through Heppner’s maturity she will bring wisdom to the team.
“Jessalyn is a highly talented defender who is joining us out of our infamous Winkler region,” said head coach Calla in an interview earlier this summer, “she has a great ability to win the ball and has a great pace about her. She is another piece to helping us become a more complete squad. Her maturity and wisdom will be a huge benefit to defense. I can’t wait for her leadership to shine through.”
The pieces are now in place for another great season for Providence women’s soccer. We anticipate a strong finish in both the MCAC and the NCCAA this season as we look to September for the season opener.
