Pilots’ first signing of 2018 is soccer striker Breanna Bedard
Breanna Bedard is the Providence Pilots’ first signing of 2018.
A naturally right-footed forward who isn’t afraid to launch a heavy shot with her left foot, the Selkirk native represented the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School Royals at high school level and has also represented the city’s TRI-S club.
Away from the field Bedard enjoys hiking and photography and has previously volunteered with CanU—the University of Manitoba’s mentorship program. She’ll begin classes at Providence in September and is looking forward to studying science at the Otterburne campus. As it happens, her brother Evan is the goalkeeper for the school’s men’s soccer team.
“I’m excited about starting a new chapter in my life,” she says. I’m looking forward to being a part of the Providence community and pushing myself to be a better soccer player.
Bedard is head coach Tory Walker’s third signing of the off-season.
“She brings a lot of toughness on the field and has the ability to use both feet, which is pretty rare,” he points out. “She has a great shot and will be a great addition to our team in the fall.”
