Pilots women’s soccer team signs “explosive” midfielder
Last season the Providence Pilots women’s soccer team was runner-up at the National Christian College Athletic Conference Regional Championship in Ankeny, Iowa. They also made the semi-finals of the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference play-offs. In 2017 they’ll be looking to take the next step in both competitions.
Selina Steiger will be a big part of that.
“I have watched Selina the past two years and have wanted to sign her,” says head coach Tory Walker—ecstatic that Steiger recently signed her letter of intent at the Otterburne campus. “She brings explosive speed, great touch and, most importantly, great character to our team.
Steiger represented Winkler’s Northlands Parkway Collegiate before graduating and also played for the Winnipeg SC Hurricanes club side. Away from the pitch she enjoys running, painting, walking her dogs and volunteering at Winkler Bible Camp.
“I am excited to play for the Pilots because it’s a higher level of soccer,” she says, adding that she’s looking forward to seeing how she and her new teammates can grow as a group. She’ll pursue her Bachelor of Business Administration at Providence.
Adds Walker: “She will be a difference-maker right from the get-go. Welcome to the Providence Pilots, Selina!”
