Providence men’s soccer team in safe hands with new goalkeeper
2017-06-27

Evan Bedard has been developing quickly as a goalkeeper.

In just a single year he has gone from tending the nets at high school level to representing Selkirk FC of the Manitoba Major Soccer League to joining the Providence Pilots.

“Providence gives me the chance to excel in my soccer career and take another step in my schooling,” says Bedard, who is looking forward to studying science on the Otterburne campus. “I’m looking forward to playing soccer at a level that not too many people reach.”

Bedard was named Most Valuable Player of the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School Royals last season and was also nominated for the school’s Athlete of the Year award.

Shortly after hearing about Bedard, Pilots head coach Joey Passi invited the ‘keeper to campus and recruited him to the Pilots.

“Evan is a great kid with a humble disposition who is going to fit nicely with our team,” says Passi. “He brings excellent athleticism, great shot-stopping ability and an aggressive attitude on the pitch.. We’re happy to have him on board.”
