Longtime Pilots sports camper joins Providence varsity men’s soccer team
The annual Pilots Sports Camps continue to prepare athletes for university-level teams—the latest being Mallory Dumont of nearby St-Pierre-Jolys, who recently signed his letter of intent at Providence
A striker with both Ecole Communautaire Real Berard and Grunthal FC, Dumont honed his skills during four summers of soccer camp on the Otterburne campus, and Pilots head coach Joey Passi is looking forward to working with a player already familiar with the school.
“Mallory is a great signing because he has come through our sports camps and we’ve seen him develop into a solid player over the years,” he explained. “We are excited to add his pace, stamina and overall athleticism to our team. He also brings character and is another local player with strong ties to the community.”
Away from the pitch Dumont enjoys staying fit by participating in marathons and triathlon events. He plans to study Business Administration at Providence.
“I can’t wait to push myself to the next level and to maximize my physical ability as a soccer player,” says the 5’0” forward. “I am also excited to grow in my faith as part of a great Christian community. I’m thankful for the opportunity and glad that God has opened this door.”
The Pilots soccer teams will kick off the 2017 season with friendly matches that will be a part of September’s Welcome Week.
