Tricky midfielder will help Pilots men’s soccer team unlock defenses
The Providence Pilots men’s soccer team continues to take shape ahead of the 2017 season.
This week Giovanni Benitez signed his letter of intent at the Otterburne campus, and head coach Joey Passi remarked that the 5’10” midfielder would be an important part of the Pilots build-up play going forward.
“Gio is a creative player who is gifted on the ball,” he said. “He has great vision for the pass and will be a nightmare for opponents in one-on-one situations. His ability in possession will be key to unlocking many defenses this year. We’re extremely lucky to have him on board.”
Offered Benitez: “I’m excited to join this team and am ready to bring excitement and joy to the Prov fans.”
Benitez played his high school soccer with Brandon’s Vincent Massey Vikings and represents the Manitoba Major Soccer League’s Hellas at club level. He is interested in the Business program at Providence.
