Men’s volleyball recruit looking forward to facing brother
Jonas Friesen says next season’s matches between the Providence Pilots men’s volleyball team and the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers will be “family affairs.”
Friesen, who recently signed his letter of intent at the Otterburne campus, is looking forward to facing his brother Thomas, who plays for CMU, and given that the Pilots and Blazers won the previous two Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference championships the contests promise to be both competitive and compelling.
Providence head coach Scott Masterson is excited to work with Friesen—a two-time South Central Athletic Conference all-star with the Dakota Collegiate Lancers.
“Jonas is going to bring a high level of ball control to our team,” he says. “We’ve enjoyed having him come up through our sports camps and I’m looking forward to his continued development as he brings a great commitment to work ethic and improvement.”
Adds Friesen: “I’ve had the pleasure to play for many teams in my career and am very excited to add the Pilots to that list.”
