Pilots men’s soccer team adds quick, tricky dribbler
2017-04-03

The Providence Pilots men’s soccer team is taking shape ahead of next season, and one of the squad’s key players in 2017-18 is likely to be Romaine Francis.

A high-level player at youth level in his native Jamaica, Francis has also represented the Kelvin High School Clippers and the Manitoba Major Soccer League’s FC Winnipeg Lions.

According to Pilots head coach Joey Passi, the tricky midfielder will be a “huge difference-maker” on the field.

“Romaine is a dynamic player who brings some much-needed speed and skill to our team,” he says. “He has a great touch as well as the ability to take on players one-versus-one.”

Away from the pitch Francis spends considerable time volunteering with both his church and inner-city soccer programs. He’s interested in studying Business, Science and the Humanities at Providence.

“I’m very grateful for this opportunity to become part of the Pilots,” he says. “I’m excited to test my skill, grow in character and deepen my faith.”
