Women’s basketball team into ACCA semi-finals
The Providence Pilots women’s basketball team will contest an Association of Christian College Athletics semi-final on Friday against a to-be-determined opponent.
Rebecca Fentum-Jones put up a carer-high 20 points against the Ozark Christian College Ambassadors on Wednesday as Providence prevailed 56-51 in their first game of the Joplin, Missouri tournament. The third-year guard was also named an ACCA Scholar Athlete, as was teammate Isabella Selk. Courtney Engel earned a National Christian College Athletic Association All-Region 2nd Team designation.
On the men’s side, Providence lost 128-103 to the Ambassadors, although Romeo KC contributed 25 points and 6 rebounds. The Falls Church, Virginia guard, in his fourth year with the Pilots, was appointed to the NCCAA All-Region 2nd Team and also won ACCA All-American 2nd Team recognition. Teammate Richard Rodgers was named an ACCA Scholar Athlete.
The men will now face the Association Free Lutheran Bible School and Seminary Conquerors in the consolation round.
