Providence basketball teams split weekend games

The Providence Pilots men’s team lost against Red River 84-95, and they are 0-4 against them overall for the season. Although they lost, three standouts led the way; Donovan Miller chipped in 12 points and 2 steals, Romeo KC scored 22 points and 5 rebounds, and Richard Rodgers produced a double-double of 31 points and 12 rebounds.

The women’s team also lost against Red River, losing 51-73. However, standout sophomore Alison Zantac scored 14 points and 9 rebounds, and star forward Courtney Engel produced a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The men’s team rebounded against the University of Winnipeg Wesmen with a convincing 90-74 win. They are now tied for second place in MCAC with Canadian Mennonite University. The Pilots women’s team won via forfeit by the Wesmen. They are now third place in MCAC, four points behind Red River.

The basketball teams’ next matchups are February 2 as they travel to Minnesota, USA to challenge the Association Free Lutheran Bible School and Seminary.
