Providence sports camp soccer star graduates to Pilots varsity team
2016-11-21

Another Providence summer camper has graduated to a Pilots varsity team.

Lexi Koop, a Grade 12 student-athlete at Winnipeg’s Calvin Christian School, attended soccer camp at Providence last summer and recently signed a letter of intent at the Otterburne campus.

Pilots women’s soccer coach Tory Walker says he has watched the defender “develop as a player” over the past year.

“She is going to bring more than just an elite skill set,” he explains. “Lexi has great character and will be a fantastic addition to a team filled with awesome people.”

Captain of the Calvin Christian School Eagles, Koop also represents the Morse Place Club and was previously a city champion with FC Northwest. She says she can’t wait to play for the Pilots next season.

“I’m really excited to play here next year and feel God calling me here,” she says. “I’m excited to be a Pilot and to join the Providence community.”

Adds Walker: “Lexi is another great piece in what will be a very strong, competitive team for years to come.”
