Providence volleyball coaches win provincial awards
Plaudits continue to come the way of the Providence sports teams following a successful 2015-16 campaign.
On Friday the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference revealed its Coach of the Year list, which included Pilots volleyball coaches Scott Masterson and Jason Peters.
Impressively, the awards bring to more than 50 the honours bestowed on Providence players and coaches this season in basketball, soccer, and volleyball.
Masterson, who guided the women’s volleyball team to the MCAC championship, as well as the National Christian College Athletic Association regional title and national final, was also named NCCAA regional Coach of the Year, NCCAA national Coach of the Year, and American Volleyball Coaches Association Coach of the Year for all NCCAA divisions.
Peters, meanwhile, took a juggernaut men’s volleyball team to MCAC glory in his 13th and final season as head coach.
He’ll hand over the reins to Masterson ahead of the 2016-17 schedule, and Masterson will leave the women’s team in the capable hands of long-time assistant Kyle Guenther.
