Brooms for ACC

The women entered their match with Red River riding a 12 set winning streak. With a perfect 7-0 record on the line, the Pilots were looking to keep the winning streak alive. With strong play from the former athlete of the week Lauren Toews, the Pilots would do just that. The women played another strong match against the Rebels winning 3 straight sets and improving to 8-0 on the season, while setting the streak to 15 sets in a row.

Next action would be against the Assiniboine Community College Cougars at home. The Cougars who have struggled this season were looking for their first win. The Pilots continued their strong play and would win the 1st game of the double header 3-0. The second game was a little more interesting as the Cougars took a set off the Pilots early on, but it would not be enough. After the set loss to the Cougars, sophomore middle Clarice Martens reentered the match for the Pilots and finished off ACC. The Providence Pilots women’s volleyball team will carry a 10 game win streak into the Christmas break.

The men’s volleyball team entered their match on Thursday night with the Red River Rebels, looking to break a three game losing streak. With Red River taking the first two sets, the Pilots would make a stand in the 3rd set winning 25-19. It would not be enough as the Rebels continued to win the 4th set 25-20 taking the game 3 sets to 1. The Pilots landed back at home on Saturday in a double header against the 0-6 Assiniboine Community College Cougars. The Pilots, now on a 4 game losing streak were looking for a couple of wins to carry them into the Christmas break. Still trying to find their rhythm on the court the Pilots experimented with a few different lineups. Coach Peters must have sparked some life into his young team as they swept the Cougars 3-0 in back to back games. The Pilots will enter the Christmas break with back to back wins evening them to 5-5 on the season and firmly holding the 4th playoff spot.
