Pilots’ Erik Wiebe named MCAC Men’s Volleyball MVP
Erik Wiebe has been named the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player for men’s volleyball.
The third-year Providence student out of Steinbach helped the Pilots to a first-place finish during the MCAC regular season and is joined on the provincial honour roll by teammates Lucas Pappel, also of Steinbach, and Rosenort’s Greg Dueck—both of whom earned places on the All-Conference Team.
The Pilots also claimed three of the spots on the women’s All-Conference Team.
Winnipeg’s Shayna Staerk, who also won the National Christian College Athletic Association Division II MVP in December, made the squad, as did Sam Bridle (Winnipeg) and LaRae Penner (Steinbach).
Both Staerk and Penner also garnered NCCAA All-American designations after the Pilots women made it all the way to the National Championship final in Kissimmee, Florida.
