About Providence Athletics

Since it was established in 1975, the Providence Athletics program has been an essential part of the Providence Community. Beginning as the founding college of the Manitoba Christian College Athletic Association (MCCAA), Providence Athletics has evolved into a program that is now to basketball, volleyball, soccer, golf, and futsal teams throughout the varsity, club, and junior club levels.

On our six varsity sports teams, approximately 75-100 athletes put on the Providence blue to represent their school in the MCAC and NCCAA conferences, where each year they continue to find success. In the 2012 season, Providence took home three provincial titles, one in women’s volleyball, and the others in both men and women’s soccer. Every season they continue to produce talented young athletes who are respected on and off the field of play, through exceptional academic success, and respected character and sportsmanship.

Providence is home to a top-of-the-line and newly renovated gymnasium and fitness centre, which provides a place to play and train for athletes of all ages. Aside from our varsity program, we host six weeks of sports camps in the summer for junior high and high school athletes. Some of these athletes go on to compete provincially and nationally on one of our new Junior Prov Club teams, and some even move on to our varsity teams after they graduate. There’s plenty for the casual athlete too, as Providence students and staff compete in intramurals throughout the year in volleyball, flag football, floor hockey, basketball and soccer.

The Athletics program is one of the most significant community builders that exists at Providence, and each year we are very proud of our athletes, fans, and athletic staff who make it a true honour for young athletes to put on the Providence blue.
