University College Returning Student Bursaries

Please be sure to have your application sent in before the deadline of the scholarships and bursaries. Some scholarships require a reference letter(s) from your pastor, teacher, professor, or community leader. If you are to include a reference letter, please include the following:

  1. How long your Referee has known you and in what capacity.
  2. A description of your character.
  3. Why your Referee thinks that you are qualified for the scholarship or bursary that you have applied for.



Brethren in Christ Bursary

Providence is not currently accepting submissions for Brethren in Christ Bursary.



Kleefeld Christian Community International Bursary

Providence will accept submissions for Kleefeld Christian Community International Bursary until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

Kleefeld Christian Community International Bursary, $1500 (1 available)

This one-time bursary is available to returning University College students who demonstrate financial need, and who intend to go into Christian ministry. Applicants must submit a 400 word essay on how they intend to use their education for future Christian Ministry.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must be an International student.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $1500, awarded in the second semester of that year.

Music Bursary

Providence is not currently accepting submissions for Music Bursary because the deadline (Friday, November 13, 2015) has passed.



Neufeld Family Bursary

Providence will accept submissions for Neufeld Family Bursary until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

Neufeld Family Bursary, $1000 (1 available)

This one time bursary is available to students at Providence enrolled in a degree program. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and show basic Christian character and aptitude for ministry. Preference will be given to an international student.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must be enrolled in a Providence University College or Providence Theological Seminary degree program.
  • Applicant must demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must demonstrate basic Christian character and aptitude for ministry.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $1000, awarded in the second semester of that year.

The David Moravec Memorial Bursary

Providence will accept submissions for The David Moravec Memorial Bursary until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The David Moravec Memorial Bursary, $250 (1 available)

This is a one-time award available to returning students. Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance, and are required to submit a letter of reference from a pastor. In addition, each applicant must submit an essay stating how studying at Providence is making a difference in their life.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must demonstrate an exemplary dedication to Christ and His work.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $250, awarded in the second semester of that year

The Harold Dyck Memorial Bursary

Providence will accept submissions for The Harold Dyck Memorial Bursary until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The Harold Dyck Memorial Bursary, $1000 (1 available)

This is a one-time award available to returning students. Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance and are required to submit a letter of reference from a pastor. In addition, each applicant must submit an essay stating how studying at Providence is making a difference in their life.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $1,000 awarded in the second semester of that year.

The Ken R. Friesen Memorial Bursary

Providence will accept submissions for The Ken R. Friesen Memorial Bursary until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The Ken R. Friesen Memorial Bursary, $500 (2 available)

This is a one-time award that is available to returning students who express interest in continuing their studies in the field of Youth Leadership. Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance. Applicants are required to submit a letter of reference from a Pastor. In addition, each applicant must submit an essay stating how studying at Providence is preparing him/her for life in Youth Ministry.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program, majoring in Youth Leadership.

When the above criteria/requirements are met the recipient will receive $500, awarded in the second semester of that year.

The McGill Friesen Humanitarian Bursary

Providence will accept submissions for The McGill Friesen Humanitarian Bursary until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The McGill Friesen Humanitarian Bursary, $1000 (1 available)

This is a one-time award that is available to returning students who express interest in project development or humanitarian aid. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and demonstrate good potential for Christian leadership. Applicants are required to submit a letter of reference from their sponsoring agency. In addition, each applicant must submit an essay outlining their project and how studying at Providence is preparing him/her for involvement in a developing country.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrolment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program

When the above criteria/requirements are met the recipient will receive $1000, awarded in the second semester of that year.

The Peter and Esther Dyck Family Bursary

Providence will accept submissions for The Peter and Esther Dyck Family Bursary until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The Peter and Esther Dyck Family Bursary, $1000 (Up to 5 available)

This one-time bursary is available annually to students attending Albright Church in Winnipeg as regular attendees or participants in the youth program. Applicants must submit a 400 word essay on how studying at Providence will make a difference in their life.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicants must submit a 400 word essay on how studying at Providence will make a difference in their life.
  • Applicants must submit a letter of reference form a member of the Albright Church Pastoral staff.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $1000, awarded in the second semester of that year.
