University College Returning Student Scholarships

Please be sure to have your application sent in before the deadline of the scholarships and bursaries. Some scholarships require a reference letter(s) from your pastor, teacher, professor, or community leader. If you are to include a reference letter, please include the following:

  1. How long your Referee has known you and in what capacity.
  2. A description of your character.
  3. Why your Referee thinks that you are qualified for the scholarship or bursary that you have applied for.



Buller Business Administration Second Year Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for Buller Business Administration Second Year Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

Buller Business Administration Second Year Scholarship (1 available)

This one-time scholarship is available to students who have completed their first year at Providence in a Bachelor of Arts program majoring in Business Administration, and are returning for a second year in the same program. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit a 400 word career plan, outlining their business goals after graduation.

In order to receive the above scholarship, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must maintain an acceptable Accumulated Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.5.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program majoring in Business Administration.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive cost of one semester of tuition, awarded in the second semester. This does not include fees.

Buller Business Administration Third Year Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for Buller Business Administration Third Year Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

Buller Business Administration Third Year Scholarship (1 available)

This one-time scholarship is available to students who have completed their second year at Providence in a Bachelor of Arts program majoring in Business Administration, and are returning for a third year in the same program. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit a 400 word career plan, outlining their business goals after graduation.

In order to receive the above scholarship, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must maintain an acceptable Accumulated Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.5.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program majoring in Business Administration.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive cost of one semester of tuition, awarded in the second semester. This does not include fees.

Sodexo Business Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for Sodexo Business Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The Sodexo Business Scholarship, $750 (2 available)

Awarded annually to returning business students. The recipient will receive a $750 scholarship to be applied to the second semester of studies. This scholarship is not restricted to a one-time occurrence and may be applied for in subsequent years.

In order to receive the above scholarship, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must maintain an acceptable Accumulated Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.5.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College Business degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $750, awarded in the second semester of that year.

South America Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for South America Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

South America Scholarship

This scholarship is available to new or returning full-time students enrolling in a degree program, coming from South America. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit an essay of 400 words outlining why they want to study at Providence and what they plan to do in their field to make a difference in the world. Please comment on how this bursary will assist you in meeting your financial needs in attending Providence. A letter of reference/recommendation from a high school/ university professor, pastor or community leader is required with this application.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must maintain a minimum Accumulated Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 3.0.
  • The BA applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters. The MA applicant must be enrolled in no less than 18 credit hours over the fall, winter, and summer semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $2500, awarded in the second semester of that year.

This application will be considered only after a formal application to Providence University College has been received.

TESOL Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for TESOL Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

TESOL Scholarship

This scholarship is available to new or returning full-time students entering a TESOL or TTESOL program. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit an essay of 400 words outlining why they want to study TESOL or TTESOL at Providence University College and what they plan to do in this field to make a difference in the world. Please comment on how this bursary will assist you in meeting your financial needs in attending Providence. A letter of reference/recommendation from a university professor, pastor or community leader is required with this application.

In order to receive the above scholarship, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must maintain a minimum Accumulated Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 3.0.
  • The BA TESOL applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • The MA TESOL and TTESOL applicant must be enrolled in no less than 18 credit hours over the fall, winter, and summer semesters.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $2500, awarded in the second semester of that year.

This application will be considered only after a formal application to Providence University College has been received.

The Dave and Helen Schellenberg Memorial Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for The Dave and Helen Schellenberg Memorial Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The Dave and Helen Schellenberg Memorial Scholarship, $375 (1 available)

This is a one-time award that is available to returning students intending to go to the mission field. Applicants must demonstrate good potential for Christian leadership and are required to submit a letter of reference from a pastor. In addition, each applicant must submit an essay stating how studying at Providence is preparing him/her for life in the mission field.

In order to receive the above scholarship, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must maintain an acceptable Accumulated Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.5.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must demonstrate an exemplary dedication to Christ and His work.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program.

When the above Criteria/Requirements are met, the recipient will receive $375, awarded in the second semester of that year.

The Grace McAllister Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for The Grace McAllister Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The Grace McAllister Scholarship, $500 (1 available)

This one-time scholarship is available to students who are involved in camp ministry (first preference to One Hope Canada workers). Applicants must submit this form, which includes two brief essay questions stating how being involved in camp ministry has affected him/her, and why he/she desires to study at Providence.

In order to receive the above scholarship, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must maintain an acceptable Accumulated Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.5.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met the recipient will receive $500, awarded in the second semester of that year.

The Henry Schellenberg Chamber Singers Memorial Scholarship

Providence is not currently accepting submissions for The Henry Schellenberg Chamber Singers Memorial Scholarship.



The Renee Dueck Memorial Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for The Renee Dueck Memorial Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The Renee Dueck Memorial Scholarship, $2,500 (2 available)

This is a one-time award that is available to returning students who are currently developing their passion and skill of communication through media and the social sciences at Providence University College. Preference will be given to students who have participated in a YWAM DTS. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay describing their past endeavors and future goals of communication through media or the social sciences. This should demonstrate a passion similar to Renée’s: “Proclaiming the truth through the performing arts and mobilizing the church into missions.” She reflected the Glory of God to so many and recognized the image of God in people around the world, in every class, culture and realm of society. Her impact and love will never be forgotten.

In order to receive the above scholarship, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must maintain a minimum Accumulated Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.5.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Preference will be given to YWAM DTS grads, and students with demonstrated financial need.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.

The Rhea Nordstrom-Friesen Memorial Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for The Rhea Nordstrom-Friesen Memorial Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The Rhea Nordstrom-Friesen Memorial Scholarship, $700 (1 available)

This is a one-time award that is available to returning students who expresses interest in continuing their studies in the field of Church and related ministry. Preference will be given to residents of South-Eastern Manitoba. Applicants are required to submit a letter of reference from a Pastor. In addition, each applicant must submit an essay stating how studying at Providence is preparing him/her for life in a Church related ministry.

In order to receive the above scholarship, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must maintain an acceptable Accumulated Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.5.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a University College degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $700, awarded in the second semester of that year.

The W. Lawrence McAllister Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for The W. Lawrence McAllister Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The W. Lawrence McAllister Scholarship, $500 (1 available)

The Watts & Vatrt Business/Music Scholarship

Providence will accept submissions for The Watts & Vatrt Business/Music Scholarship until the end of Friday, April 1, 2016.

The Watts & Vatrt Business/Music Scholarship, $1,500 (1 available)

This scholarship will be awarded annually to returning students enrolled in a 4-year degree in Business and/or Music. The recipient will receive a $1,500 scholarship to be applied to the second semester of studies. This scholarship is not restricted to a one-time occurrence and may be applied for in subsequent years.

In order to receive the above scholarship, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must maintain an acceptable Accumulated Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.5.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a Business and/or Music degree program.
  • Applicant must take one Business course.
  • A 1000 word essay outlining the following:

    What degree you plan to graduate with (ie: A double major in business and music; or a major in music, with a minor in business; or a major in business, with a minor in music; or a major in business, with some courses in music; or a major in music with some courses in business).

    What career you plan to pursue, and how that career will benefit from what you've learnt here at Providence.

    What music and/or business activities you are involved with outside of classes.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $1,500 awarded in the second semester of that year.
